A little about me!
I am a 30 year old, photo obsessed mummy of two (with also the best partner in the world, a horse, puppy and two kitties!) and live in South West Scotland. My style is natural and relaxed, just like me! I am a bubbly and chatty person, and pretty much could talk the legs off a donkey - so I don’t let anyone feel uncomfortable. My two main passions in life are horses and photography, and I absolutely adore being outside. Sitting still is definitely something I don’t do well at!
I grew up in North West England, and having my parents be in videography always inspired me to be a creative person too. I found my love for wedding photography when during college in 2013, while I was studying photography, I helped a family friend who had a photography business doing weddings. I soon fell in love, and after a few years of building my confidence Alexandra Victoria Photography began. From my first ever wedding till now, nearly 200 weddings and some awards later, I still love my job, and there isn’t a single thing I would want to spend my time doing. It is the dream!
I am not just your photographer, I am a friendly face, a helping hand and sometimes even a wedding baby sitter!! I will be there every second of the day, whether it’s helping someone put their shoes on or giving the venue a hand organising things, my job isn’t just about taking pictures - it is about ensuring the day runs as smoothly as possible. I make sure I chat to guests, other suppliers and the venue. I have always been a people person, so I couldn’t image not talking to everyone who will listen!
Frequently asked questions
What do we do if the weather is bad?
This is something everyone worries about, but it really doesn’t need to make you panic! Most of the time if the weather isn’t on our side, it doesn’t last the whole day - so there will be at some point chance to get outside. If factors such as a wind are causing an issue, there will always be somewhere inside we can create some magic!
Are there any travel fees?
I include travel within Stranraer, anything outside of that will have a small charge of 45p per mile!
How long will it take for our formal pictures?
This is completely down to yourselves! It can take as long as you want it too. If you only want a small bunch, we can get it done in no time. If you have a larger family then it can take a little longer. I would allocate two hours after ceremony - one hour for photographs (the time is takes to round people up is what takes the longest!) and one hour for relaxing before your meal.
Do we get the RAW’s too?
The images sent to you will be edited to improve lighting, contrast, sharpness, and color — all of which is a standard process for digital photographers. Therefore, I do not provide the unedited RAW images. There is a reason we edit them so you aren’t missing anything, I promise!
When will we get the USB?
This is a tricky one to estimate as can very between weddings, but the main factor is what time of year you are getting married! For example, my busiest season is summer, so these tend to be longer timeframes than off season months such as December and January when everything is a little slower. In prime busy summer it could be 8-10 weeks, in off season it could be in as little as 2 weeks! However, I do share sneaks along the way!
Do you have insurance?
This was the first thing I set up when I created my business, and believe is the most important. I have full liability insurance, so if your venue requires to see this please let me know and I will either send over via email, or bring with me on the day.
How many pictures will be receive?
Every wedding is completely different. The amount you receive really depends on so many factors - weather, venue size, guest count, how many formal/group pictures you would like, the length of time I am there, it really can be very different. I aim to get around 400-500 for a standard full day wedding, around 9/10 hours of coverage.
What if you become ill?
In the 10 years of me doing weddings, I am yet to miss one! However, if my arms fell off and I couldn’t attend - I do have lots of contacts with other photographers who shoot weddings, and would provide you with alternative options.
